As a Zoology post-graduate, I loved the ecological and biodiversity side of the degree. Since finishing my degree, I have had a part-time job that has meant that I struggle to get to species identification courses. However, I am always outside with my dog, Smudge. Therefore I am taking it upon myself to teach myself some of the tips to identifying British species whilst out with my dog on our walks.
Smudge loves going on walks, whether it’s just around the block or to a special, greener location, it is all an adventure for her. She is a rottweiler X st Bernard cross breed but is a little smaller than expected as she was the runt of the litter but this definitely makes her the most special dog, especially as she is my first dog. She is my species identifying partner and I couldn’t ask for a better dog.
On this blog, I hope you will follow me on my journey and that it will help aspiring ecologist to identify British species. Not only this but it will hopefully identify some great walking sites for dog walkers. I am always open to constructive critique and I want to make sure that I get my facts right for everyone, so if you see something not quite right please let me know on the Contact page, or leave comments below posts.
